The key benefits of deploying a hybrid solution comprising SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP BusinessObjects

Nowadays, the vast majority of IT spending directed at business computing is on cloud solutions, as organizations recognize the significant advantages, including access, maintenance, reliability, and performance associated with cloud environments.

In the field of business analytics, this trend is reflected in the continual growth in the adoption of SAP Analytics Cloud as the best in class cloud analytics solution. From advanced business intelligence to augmented analytics and planning capabilities, SAP Analytics Cloud is revolutionizing usability and self-service, democratizing access to advanced reporting and analysis, and accelerating time-to-insight.

However, it’s important to recognize that not all businesses are in a position to move their entire operations to a cloud-only model. There are a variety of reasons that this may not be a suitable path, from prior investment in on-premise systems which are still mid-lifecycle, making immediate migration unnecessarily expensive or wasteful, to concerns about data security in transit to the cloud or in cloud storage.

For these organizations, using a cloud analytics solution might seem out of reach, however, implementing a hybrid solution can offer a best-of-both-worlds model.

SAP has just released a new version, SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3, that features tighter integration with SAP Analytics Cloud, and long term support to 2027, creating the perfect combination of tools to develop an on-premise/cloud hybrid solution.

Implementing a hybrid solution using a combination of SAP Business Objects 4.3 and SAP Analytics Cloud brings with it several significant advantages, including:

  • Thanks to Live Universe Connector 3.0 on-premise data can be accessed from the cloud, but without being transferred outside the customer’s network, removing security concerns about the safety of data in transit.

  • Customers can utilize pre-existing Web Intelligence data models in SAP Analytics Cloud and repurpose existing Web Intelligence documents to disseminate new information.

  • Hybrid User Management synchronizes BI Platform Users to SAP Analytics Cloud, featuring simplified SSO configuration and user management spanning cloud and on-premise platforms.

  • Improved integration with Analytics Hub, meaning that all BI content is available via the Hub, and remains automatically synchronized and up to date, allowing access to current reports from different platforms via a single interface.

For customers using SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards or SAP BusinessObjects Explorer, it is important to bear in mind that both depend on the use of Flash and hence will not be available in SAP Business Objects 4.3. SAP recommends SAP Analytics Cloud as the replacement for SAP BusinessObjects Explorer.

At Clariba, our combined experience of more than 20 years of SAP Analytics expertise, certifications, and internal adoption of SAP’s official ramp-up programs lets us enable you to rapidly unlock the potential of these new capabilities.

Contact Clariba to evaluate your switch to hybrid solutions and start enjoying all of the advantages we’ve discussed, harnessing the flexibility of the cloud while maintaining the security of on-premise infrastructure!
